May 1, 2011 - Guns & a terrorist stopped

This Sunday started like any other.  I woke up from a bad dream and it was early.  Did a little FB post and said I was bored.  Moments later the opportunity to go to the shooting range.  (No idea why but just typing or saying that just feels wrong.)  I drove out to meet Paul and got to sit outside and enjoy the weather with Paul and my cousins, Sue & Kim.  Kim lives next door to Paul, which is how I met him.
So after the time with the family I got the run down of 2 rifles and 2 pistols and then safety tips.  I have to say I was pretty freaked out.  I haven't really touched a gun before and there I was standing in front of 4 of them.  It definitely didn't feel like I was just watching a TV show. 
So we left to go to August A. Busch Conservation Area Shooting Range.    There were rules of the range.  How long you get to shoot, what happens when you cease fire, going to change out your target... just all sorts of stuff.  I was worried but I got the hang of it.
I shot a Bushmaster M4 .223 caliber tactical assault rifle & a Ruger SR9C 9mm compact pistol and the targets were at 25 yards.  I mostly used the rifle and I even tried standing for a few shots.  I either had beginners luck I could be really good at this.  Check it out!!!

I don't see the point in lying.. so truth is my shoulder hurt.  Even with my shoulder hurting and thinking I didn't do to great with the pistol, I still came home and started looking up these same guns.  HAHA  Like I could own a gun.  You must be joking.  I hope I do it again sometime and I definitely need to be better at the pistol.  I can't be all gansta with a rifle.



Who finds it interesting that the day I learn how to shoot... the POS Osama Bin Laden gets killed.  This is 10 years in the making.  I really learned a lot from this article Bin Laden Dead - 5-3-11 Article.
I am like everyone else.  I am a little skeptical.  I don't know if the government lies.  I don't know if they think we can't handle it but we can.  We can handle the truth.  We need to see this awful human being dead.  It does sound awful when you think about it but a few thing I said and heard today.
1.  There is a video of an American Soldier getting his head cut off on a video that is online.  I saw one of our own, I can see what happened.  Proof!
2.  We watched people jump out of windows from the World Trade Center.  We can watch this.  Proof!
3.  We have lost friends and family by fighting a war.  We need justice.  Proof!

That was just quite the Sunday!!!  I am trying to not let anything ruin this week.

Goals

With a busy weekend behind me I now have goals from my trainer. Small goal... Swim 300 Meters by the end. Of September. Weekly goals.. Walk 2-3 times a week. Bike once a week. Swim/aqua twice a week. Then I have a weights to lifts 2-3 times a week. Then random chair dips & push-ups. Long term goal.... Get this weight off in 6 month so I can go skiing!!! I am going to meet a nutritionist and get food on track!!! Damn food is my biggest problem. Any help is appreciated! Tonight did a mini triathlon - walked 30 min. Swam/aqua for a good 30 min (plus relaxed in the hot tub) then picked up some Subway and came home to bike for 15 minutes. Gotta get my rear retrained for a bike. I didn't wear the padded shorts!!! Already good in my mind. Now inches and fat... Get off of me. I got dream to fulfill!!

Here I am 5 days later.  The pain is not as bad as it was in the begining but there is still quite the discomfort and tightness and pain.  Have you ever looked up 'muscle spasm'?  A sudden, involuntary muscle contraction. Acute pain, marked by limited range of motion, fasciculation, and increased EMG activity even resting may be present. There is acute onset of pain at rest as well as with function. I fell like a spasm should be lots of contractions but it isn't.  It is like putting the muscles on lock down. Having this pain is really messing with my head.  It is putting me into a depression.  I don't want to do things.  I don't want to talk.  I want to eat and just lay on the couch.  This is what I am trying to get away from!!

Commitment

I am usually a woman of my word except for when it comes to myself. I will do whatever I can for others but when I need to do something for me I seem to just go with, 'whatever'! Today that is coming to an end. It is time I made a commitment to myself - but it still includes the other people in my life. Today I start getting healthy and sticking to a workout program. I want to be there for my family, my friends and for Ryan and what our future holds. If I am over weight or unhealthy I won't be able to be there for anyone. I can tell that in the past few weeks I have slacked on taking care of me. I already feel the effects. My back is sore, I am tired all the time & my acid problems are still bad even with daily medicine. No more of this. Today I start a workout - ChaLEAN Extreme/Turbo Fire Hybrid.
